Don
presented
Good Morning Sunday
for
over 15 years
This coming Sunday is
World Communications Day but more importantly it’s the Feast of the
Ascension.
Monday is the Feast
of St Catherine of
Siena
, patron saint of
Italy
. It’s said that she was the most influential woman in the Church
during her lifetime. Her body is in the
Church
of
Santa Maria Sopra Minerva
which is very near to the Pantheon in
Rome
& next door to the Dominican convent in which she lived.
Wednesday is the
anniversary of the swearing in of the first President of the
United States of America
. Two hundred years later this has become the most important political
office in the world. We must hope that the next president, whoever that
may be, will lead the Western world with wisdom, courage & humility
& that, like George Washington, they will be ever mindful that there
is a higher authority to which we must all pay deference
Thursday is
the feast of St Joseph the Worker when we ask God’s blessing on
human work & protection for those who work in dangerous occupations,
underground, at altitude, on the high seas,
Friday
is the Feast of an interesting saint - Athanasius, Bishop of Alexandria,
a man described as being small in physical stature but of towering
spirit. I always feel that he gives hope to people striving to make up
for a perceived deficiency.

I’ve had a busy
but most rewarding week. The short tour of ‘Magic Moments’ to
Nottingham, Hull, Leeds & Leamington Spa went really well though I
think my bits of dance & general stage movement could do with some
work. On Sunday morning “Wait Till Your Father Gets Home” went
better than it’s ever gone before. A full audience at The Spa,
Scarborough
gave Malc Stent & I a standing ovation; we really must try to take
the show out on tour again.
On Tuesday this
week I set off to join the Artemis. I’ve never worked on this ship
before but all P&O vessels are spectacular. I fly from
Birmingham
to Frankfurt, Frankfurt to
Athens
,
Athens
to
Rhodes
. Once there I join the ship & sail with it to
Lisbon
from where I shall be flown home. I’m looking forward to it despite
the arduous flight schedule. Just hope the audiences like me otherwise
I shall have to jump overboard & swim to the nearest shore.
Until
next week, may the Lord walk with you & keep you safe.
